Al Furqaan School

A Foundation for Educational Growth

Al Nasr Relief Agency’s first major project was the establishment of Al Furqaan School in the heart of Badhan, the regional capital of Eastern Sanaag. The school was developed to provide a full educational pathway, offering elementary, intermediate and secondary education to the local community.

Today, Al Furqaan School serves more than 1,000 students and over 1,000 learners have successfully graduated from its secondary education programme since the school was founded.

The school has made a lasting contribution to educational development in the region by significantly expanding access to quality learning opportunities.

Recognised as one of the top-performing schools in Sanaag, Al Furqaan has received awards for outstanding academic achievement and excellence in education. It has also helped foster a strong culture of learning, encouraging parents, students and community leaders to view education as a pathway to a better future.

A notable achievement of the school is its contribution to human capacity development. Several of its current teachers are former students who completed their education at Al Furqaan before returning to teach the next generation.

Today, Al Furqaan School is fully managed and run by the local community, standing as a successful and sustainable model of community ownership in education.
